How to RECOVER from a VAGINAL BIRTH, with stitches / cuts / tears etc

Hello Ladies , if you’re reading this , congratulations on your new little one, and if you are about to give birth… you got this!

When I had my first born I experienced a 2nd degree tear , perineal , and cervix tear. I’m not even kidding when I say it took 8 weeks to fully heal. Now to baby number 2 I had only one small cervix tear. I was soo overjoyed ! I knew the recovery would be a lot faster & less painful.

However whether this is your first or your third , these products below are the VAGINAL RECOVERY MUST HAVES for after giving birth ! (thank me later )

Dermoplast Spray – this item is truly a must have to help soothe those lady parts. As uncomfortable as it may seem you will feel SOOO much better using this product. It’s such a cooling relief. Apply everytime after you use the restroom.

Tucks – tucks pads are heaven sent. They help with the swelling and discomfort for after birth. Please note i wouldn’t use these for a long period of time , I used these about 3-4 days after birth and then I was able to go without. if you are in need of extra cooling you can put them in the fridge before use!

Always Maxi pads I even got some of the always overnight pads and these worked wonders , Especially for the first week after birth. they now make disposable underwear you can purchase for postpartum as well , I never tried them however they do have great reviews!

Momfrida Peri Bottle – better and more effective than the bottle you receive from the hospital this peri bottle is designed with a one way air valve which gives consistent gently water pressure for all rinse and cleaning. It’s made perfectly for your lady parts!! Such a great investment. Lightweight and easy to keep clean !

Earth Mama Herbal Perineal Spray – this product is truly sooo amazing , you spray after using restroom or periodically and it is filled with organic ingredients to help making your downstairs recovery quicker. Ingredients are : Water, Witch Hazel (Hamamelis Virginiana) Leaf Extract, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Cucumber (Cucumis Sativus) Fruit Extract, Organic Lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia) Flower Oil, Organic Peppermint (Mentha Piperita) Leaf Oil. I loved this product because it also has No parabens, propellants, benzocaine or artificial fragrance. Its worth the extra $ aside to the Derma-blast spray.

Earth Mama ORGANIC PERINEAL BALM – from their website :

“ 100% organic! Truth: Growing and giving birth to baby is magical, but it can do a number “down there.” If we could write a vajingle for this salve — and play it every time you open this jar — we would. But we can’t, so we’ll say this: effective Organic Perineal Balm helps provide lasting, cooling comfort for pregnancy and postpartum places. And remember, your body WILL go back to normal — a new normal, but normal nonetheless. Promise.

Organic Perineal Balm is made with organic herbs and oils the way herbalists make it, with an exclusive blend of organic witch hazel, lavender, peppermint and other like-minded botanicals traditionally used to soothe, cool and provide relief “down there” before and after childbirth.

A QUICK HOW-TO

Store in the refrigerator for extra cooling, apply 2-3 times a day — and you’ll be sitting pretty in no time.

• Dermatologist tested and clinically tested for irritation.

• NO petroleum, parabens or artificial fragrance.

• The only non-vegan ingredient? Organic beeswax — that’s been ethically sourced in a bee-centric manner.”

Now when I purchased this product I was I kinda unsure about putting so many products down there however after experience of postpartum recovery and interchanging these products I can say as a testimony that it made a HUGE DIFFERENCE in the healing time for me.

CHONIES– purchase a pack of CHONIES/UNDERWEAR/ (size up) specifically for after birth. I purchased this pack and they worked perfect for me !

You don’t want to keep these , these are just to get through the craziness of after birth! If they get ruined it doesn’t matter , you purchased these to heal and recover in! They ain’t gonna look cute but I promise , that is the last thing you will care about at this stage ! Remember nothing too tight ,it’s so important to be comfortable during this time.

Salt baths – I didn’t do this in the beginning when i had my first daughter and I regret it ! Taking salt bath with Dr Teals coconut oil Epsom salts blend was so relaxing, comforting and big asset to my postpartum recovery and healing with the second birth of my daughter. I know their are many bath remedies you can take to recover , please comment them below ! Dr Teals was super easy for me to access and use. I know you can also use acouple drops of essential oils to help recover as well.

Loose fit clothing – cause after you’ve pushed out a baby , you don’t want anything skin right to you, and it gives you the best reason to where those sweatpants you really want to live in! I know the belly straps are awesome and everything but at night and during the day you will feel most comfortable in loose attire while trying to recover and feed your baby every 2 hours. Don’t beat yourself up , buy the loose clothing or if your like me, the hubbys tees work just as good haha

When your trying to recover you want everything you need to be easy peasy for you. I made a super cute basket bin with alll my recovery items in the restroom so that is would be easy for me to access. And it just made me feel better to have my little recovery kit in the bathroom for me.

Recovering the downstairs lady parts takes time however each day it will get easier and it WILL HEAL!!!
